The Department of Accounting invites applications for a Lecturer position for a 9-month contract period beginning August 16, 2008. This is a non-tenure track appointment, which may be renewed on a year-to-year basis.
Required qualifications include an appropriate master’s degree in business and coursework in accounting sufficient and appropriate to the teaching assignment, professional certification (i.e., Certified Public Accountant), recent and relevant professional experience related to the teaching assignment and of a significant duration and level, and other qualifications and activities necessary to maintain “Professionally Qualified” (PQ) status per accreditation guidelines of the AACSB International (or a PhD from an AACSB International accredited program with a major in accounting and other qualifications necessary for Academically Qualified or “AQ” AACSB status). Successful previous teaching experience, or strong interpersonal skills indicative of good teaching potential, is also required as is a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office and similar software. We prefer a person with demonstrated experience in teaching students from diverse backgrounds. In addition to teaching duties, a modest amount of service is expected, especially related to student advising and interaction. Research activity is not required but such efforts will be supported.
The tentative teaching assignment likely will include up to four courses/three preparations per semester and up to four preparations per year. Courses for 2008-9 likely include two critical major courses, ACC306-Intermediate Financial Accounting II and ACC408/MBA603A-Advanced Financial Accounting, and other introductory courses.
