The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Dayton invites nominations and applications for the Ohio Research Scholar’s Endowed Chair in Wide Area Surveillance. This Ohio Research Scholar position is one of several newly created endowed chairs that are part of a multi-university, statewide initiative formed under the Ohio Research Scholars Program (ORSP). The goal of the ORSP is to strengthen and increase the number of University-led research clusters within the state of Ohio. The ORSP will achieve such a missive through aggressive recruitment and attraction of talent to Ohio.
The successful candidate will have an established record of innovative research in wide area surveillance techniques, which support the communication and processing of data from heterogeneous sensor suites to provide real-time surveillance capabilities. The Chair will possess a doctorate in electrical or computer engineering and an established record of disciplinary research and extramural funding commensurate with appointment at the rank of Full Professor. The Chair will lead collaborative research, mentor a diverse population of students, and expand our academic program in areas relating to high performance computer architecture and technology including high speed input/output and processing hardware, firmware and software. The Chair will forge partnerships with industry, research centers and government labs and advance the regional, national and international stature of the University in this field. The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to work with researchers and colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
