POSITION TITLE:  Associate or Assistant Professor

POSITION IS:  Full-time/9 months/Tenure-track

This is a joint position between the Department of Visual Arts in the College of Arts and Sciences (60%) and the Department of Teacher Education in the School of Education & Allied Professions (40%).  It is a nine-month position

Qualifications:  A Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Art Education and three years of P-12 teaching experience are required.  Higher education teaching experience, experience mentoring and supervising student teachers, a history of or potential for published research and/or an exhibition record, as well as other contributions to the field preferred.  Commitment to urban and culturally diverse communities and organizations is especially welcome.

Responsibilities include: 1) Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (3/3 annual load); 2) supervising student teachers in field experience; 3) building cooperative relationships with area schools and community-based institutions; 4) advising majors; 5) supervising graduate research; 6) developing the art education program; and 7) coordinating art education adjunct faculty.  The successful candidate will be expected to maintain professional scholarship and involvement with local, state and national associations.  Standard departmental and university service is expected.  Tenure and promotion are administered through the Department of Visual Arts and the College of Arts & Sciences.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications, experience, and policies of the College and School plus excellent benefits.  Start date: August 16, 2008.  Preference will be given to applications received by February 1, 2008.
